Good coffee is easy to find. Between Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, any number of convenience stores and the dime-a-dozen coffee shops that seem to be popping up all over the place… a good cuppa is always within easy reach.
But that’s good coffee. What about great coffee? Great coffee just requires a bit more commitment and attention to detail.
At Bread Head Bakery & Coffee Shop, we have been committed to great coffee (minus the stereotypical coffee shop snobbery) from day one. We purchase our beans from who we consider to be the best supplier/roaster in the country, Kaffee Magnum Opus.
We then take these premium beans and, for simple coffee, grind them fresh just before each pot is brewed. For espresso drinks, we grind the beans fresh just before brewing each beverage.
You can make a pretty good espresso drink at home using an inexpensive machine purchased at a department store. But a great espresso drink (ie: espresso, latte, cappuccino) requires a great machine. We use a Rancilio Classe 8, an Italian-made machine that is synonymous with quality espresso. Our barristas have been trained to use the machine properly (it’s not fully automatic like what you see in McDonald’s), and we guarantee your espresso drink won’t let you down.
Probably one of the most popular espresso drinks of all time is the Mocha Latte (often called a Cafe Mocha, or somesuch). We call our version the No Joke Mocha. No joke because we take this Mocha so seriously. Those superb, fresh ground beans get brewed and mixed with our own scratch-made No Joke Mocha Powder. Everybody else uses a pre-mixed powder that is almost always full of artificial flavors and chemical crap. Our mix is all-natural and 100% pure. The result is a great mocha. No joke.
Oh, and what about decaf? Most decaf coffee is the result of a chemical process that removes about 95% of a bean’s caffeine, and more than a few of the 400+ flavor compounds that give coffee its, well, coffee flavor. At Bread Head, we serve Swiss Water Process Decaf. The SWP is all-natural, and removes 99.9% of a bean’s caffeine and none of those precious flavor compounds. The result is a great decaf that does not taste like decaf. You can read about the Swiss Water Process here.
An often overlooked component of truly great coffee is the water. At Bread Head, we’re fortunate to have very good water through the City of Dover. But ‘very good’ wasn’t quite good enough. So we went the extra step and installed the mac daddy of all water conditioning systems so that our water quality is now superb.
Every day we offer four coffee blends: House Blend, SWP Brazilian Decaf, our intense Hyper Hippie dark roast, and a delicious flavored blend that rotates regularly.
We also offer a full range of espresso drinks including lattes, cappuccino, that groovy No Joke Mocha, iced and blended lattes… and the list goes on. Flavor syrups? Oh yeah… we have about a dozen, give or take. We only use the all-natural 1883 de Philibert Routin syrups. They’re great!
Come give our coffee a try. We know you won’t be disappointed.
